Here I have pictured Shane, PR of 17’2, and Mondo, PR of 19’10 second highest vaulter outdoors of all time.
I am here to partially explain why Mondo’s timing&execution is the main key to his success that he’s fine tuned since he was 4 years old, not just his genetics and speed!
These snapshots mark where Shane and Mondo start to move the top arm past their ear, bend the bottom arm and generate pressure toward the ground instead of toward the sky! This action FORCEFULLY UNBENDS THE POLE! If you notice, Mondo times this nearly perfectly. His hips are nearly level with his shoulders, so when the pole kicks up, his lower body is what gets ripped up into the air and he doesn’t have to muscle his way upside down on an already unbending pole.
Shane on the other hand, is much much much stronger than 140 lb Mondo and tends to “muscle” his way through the vault. Notice how Shane’s hips are much lower than Mondo’s during the part of the vault where the top arm moves past the ear and they start the unbending process.
This can be fixed two different ways depending on the cause, but Shane will benefit from a combination of these:
-If it is a matter of your swing not beating the recoil of the pole, swing EARLIER and faster!!
-If it is a matter of you accidentally unbending the pole too early, swing with LONGER LEVERS for a longer amount of time(straight trail leg through the chord and straight arms until hips get to shoulder level)

#Trx flow with my client John as we focus on improving his mobility with this push up knee tuck combo which benefits over all functional strength. Great for improving upper body #power, hip #mobility, lumbar mobility.

A while back I met this Russian dude we'll call him Andrey. He would come to track practice like half the week because he was always driving to LA for unknown reasons instead the other half of the week. Come the end of the season we are watching his phone while he does some 200 reps and this photo of who may have been the most gorgeous woman pops up. Needless to say he was excused for his year of missed practices for working so hard to please this unicorn. Well aside from the first lesson of dating someone really attractive to make the rules not apply to you, I learned a lesson for my vanity another day from him. We were admiring his perfectly sculpted muscles so we asked him what to do... He said "Neek, if you want to get muscles you must follow my secret to the gym. You go 2 hours straight... no talking. You stare in mirror as you lift weight until muscles get big 2 years later... also when you do pullups you must follow my mother's advice, she was gymnast back in Ural, always have two points of contact on each hand." So there you have it. 2 hours straight no talking. The gym is probably the only place I can do it.
i would never try to influence a kid to go to JSU because i’m an alum. but it’s just a great fit in terms of offensive scheme and athletic skill set. i’m really excited to see @ac.graham4 in this program. leading this offense 🏋🏽♀️ #eitherquitorcommit#ubetterlovethislife#bestinatlanta now get your ass in the weight room👊🏽
