Always an opportunity to shift our awareness and perspective. A reminder that today is as important as tomorrow. It is our journey and our choice. How are you going to spend your day? It's time to enjoy your life. It's time to play. #LoveLife#EnjoyLife#TimetoPlay www.timetoplay.org
Dusk to Dusk.
Commencing taper days prior to my final trail marathon for the year 2018, I could only thank this beautiful city ---Cebu for embodying beautiful mountain routes, views and ascents behind the hustle and bustle of metro. There's never an excuse to do what we ought to do when the hills drive our motivation for training. There's always a new place to explore and though this sport has caught the heart of increasing number of athletes, there's a greater calling to preserve the vast space of protected lands in the island. Outdoors, there's always a reason to keep pushing perceived limits, to surrender self, and to pause and witness as nature unfolds right before our eyes.

Since you go after a great race yesterday and forget the camera. Then a #elevatorselfie I wanted to run yesterday without clock 2:10:00h on 20km and at the finish my time is 2:10:07h. It was a great experience to run slowly.
I’m a pretty well traveled guy and I can tell you there are only a handful of places on Earth that can reduce me to awestruck silence.

Dug through the crates and found some photos from the first iteration of the Welcome Winter run! Join us for the fourth installation this Saturday (15th). We’ll be meeting @colorroasters at 9am and enjoying 9 (or 6) miles of fun. Message with any questions, you’re going to LOV it.
i didn’t grow up in a household telling me i had to be the best. i knew that there were some things that i had natural talent in and some things that other folks had natural talent in. i was told to work hard, to be the first to arrive and the last to leave, to always ask what needs to be done, that if you aren’t going to do something well then you might as well not do it. that applied to everything from cleaning the bathroom to homework problems to track practice. (and not doing it was obviously not a real choice, it just meant i had to start from scratch with the intention to do the thing well). i honestly hadn’t realized how much this idea of “you will not outwork me” has been an ongoing and underlying theme in my life until seeing it written here. smarter, faster, more connected, whatever the thing may be, i have always believed that success for me would be most closely tied to my ability to put in the work. my primary competition has always been myself. (well, and sometimes @ritzbee ) yes, i am competitive, i am still an athlete. but, these days, moreso with the negative talk in my own head telling me what i can and can’t do. so i put in the work - in the service of what i’m trying to accomplish, not because i’m trying to be the best, but because i want to give my best self to the world.

ONE MONTH until surgery - Just over two years ago I was in Faro Airport in a wheelchair after spraining my right ankle for the second time. I haven’t been able to train properly since and have tried A LOT of things to fix it. The latest MRI confirmed surgery was the best option as I have now completely ruptured two ankle ligaments. The date is set - a month away, 10th January. I’m scared, nervous but excited 🤞. Bring on the recovery. I can’t want to train, race and challenge my body in new ways. Thanks to everyone I’ve moaned to these past couple of years!
Quick splash in Hong Kong 🎋
I am Lucky enough to travel to some really near places with @salomonrunning for my job. Most recently was Hong Kong where I chased down the #salomonrunningacademy for a week. No time to paint during the filming, but I a chance right before heading out walking up before sunrise to sneak out to a secluded part of the beach. Always worth finding time to paint, always!
We love this illustration as well as the message—read on below!

I do not write often about my work, but I thought it might be appropriate given that it concerns mostly everyone. If you are aged between 0 and 18, or if you have children, or plan to have children, or know someone who have children, you are concerned.
There is strong scientific evidence showing that being regularly active is good for physical and mental health and the development of the kids while not exercising and spending too much time in front of a screen has negative consequences. I recently contributed to an international study comparing the physical activity of children and youth in 49 countries and we found that in most countries, the majority of children are inactive and spend too much time in front of screens (TV, computer, video games, phone...), even when they live in a well designed environment supposed to encourage the practice of physical activity. If you are interested and want to read more about this, there is a link to the articles we wrote in my bio and here: #/doi/full/10.1123/jpah.2018-0472
We need to encourage the kids to be kids again, and to erase the potential barriers stopping them from being active.
Do you have anything to share on this topic? I would be curious to read about it.
Where are you running to this weekend? ⠀
