So this arrived in the mail today. For those of you who might remember, I did the #run4dignity 2018 October challenge, where I clocked up 70km for the whole month. Thank you #runningmumsaustralia for this beautiful bling and card. What a way to finish of the year.
Run for Dignity Virtual Event 🏅
I don't do many virtual events, but I found this to be a great charity to support.
It's easy to forget just how many things we take for granted. Every woman deserves access to sanitary products.
I'm so proud to be part of #runningmumsaustralia and seeing how much difference a group of mums can make.
I didn't think I'd have any problems achieving the goal of running 100kms in October. However I also wasn't expecting to be doing it between 8-12 weeks pregnant. At the peak of my morning sickness and fatigue.
But I'm very happy to have run 185km across the month.
Look what I received in the mail yesterday 😍 It’s been a while since I’ve received any bling for my running efforts, so it was a lovely surprise to receive this for my participation in the #run4dignity virtual running event throughout October 🏃🏼♀️
It’s arrived 😍💗😍💗 🏃🏼♀️ Gosh this bling would have to be up there with my favourites.
It’s the meaning of this one that brings tears to my eyes.
In October RMA’s ran to raise awareness for ‘Share the Dignity’ which is a women’s charity that makes a real, on-the-ground difference to homeless women and victims of domestic violence. Share The Dignity collects thousands of pads, tampons and personal hygiene products every YEAR for women experiencing homelessness and poverty. Small dignities make a big difference. We fund funerals for victims of domestic violence and campaign for justice for women in Australia.
We also raised money to put vending machines in some homeless shelters.
My personal goal was to run 50km, then I smashed that so upped it to 80km for the month and achieved that too, I reckon I even achieved 100km if I included my walks too.
I’ll treasure this bling🥇 and look at it to remind myself how easy it is to donate to woman in need!
#hurtingsucks the hashtag on the back of my @fisiocremaustralia shirt was so appropriate on Sunday. The last few kms were tough. My body was done, my mind was defeated, my bladder was furious and I just wanted to cry. But as I finally came over the rise of the hill near the finish line I saw all the people who had waited to cheer me over the line, I also saw people I didn’t know applauding me and I saw that finish line waiting for me. Yes hurting sucks but finishing is so sweet. 💚
1000!!! Best bib I’ve ever worn!! Straight to the pool room that one! 1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣💚 @runfourvines

Four Vines Running Festival.
This inaugural event is one of the most scenic I’ve ever attended.
The day started off great when I pinned bib number 1000 onto my shirt. Yaas!
Naturally at the start I placed myself right at the back. Off they all went. It is cup weekend here in Melbourne and I definitely felt like a horse still caught in it’s starting gate. Admiring their speed and impressed that the entire pack had now left me in their dust quite literally..... oh and then noticing I hadn’t started my Garmin yet. Dammit!
For the first couple of kms I was blessed with hugs, high 5’s and cheers for my amazing bib number. I could get use to this!
Soon after I was alone. Turning left into the vineyards. Just me, the grapes and 20,000 potholes that had me looking like a drunk sailor navigating my way through.
It was peaceful. I had James Earl Jones in my head, “if you build it, he will come.” “Ease his pain. “Go the distance.” I’m trying James Earl Jones!
This field of dreams may not have been corn like in the movie. But it was full of what all my dreams are made of. Grapes! Grapes that make wine! Mmmm I was most definitely in my happy place.
Still alone, wondering if I was lost and hearing things. The urge to pee kicked in! I even considered a quick squat in the vines but didn’t want to ruin a whole row of grapes and I was genuinely concerned that my bare ass would be caught on drone vision hehe.
Finally out of the vineyards and I saw some humans! Yay people! The heat, the need to pee and my aching body from my bumpy ride through the vines was starting to cause me grief. Luckily Rita and Sarah had joined me by now and their conversation was a welcome distraction.
So close to the end and one tedious hill to go. Holding in a pee and getting up a hill is not easy! My stride was getting smaller And my urge to ‘release’ was getting bigger! Finally crossed that finish line, had a few hugs, received my medal, grabbed my wine and high-tailed it to the loo!! I thought the race was over. All the hard stuff was done. But trying to pull up a running tights over my very sweaty and over heated body was impossible. I literally just had to wait to cool down! 😜

The beginning versus the end. @runfourvines tricked me. It was so much harder than I anticipated. Absolutely beautiful course. Well done to all those that planned and conducted the event today. Congrats to all those that conquered the course. I finally got there. However the heat was not my friend. My post run red slushy didn’t make it home in my belly but instead is now stained on a gutter in Wallan. Jess was ‘ere!
October has finished, and while I didnt meet my goal of walking 100km over the month for #run4dignity, I did walk 87.6km. And I'm proud.
So November has started and I've taken up a new challenge #rowvember
Rowing on the machine to see how many kms we can get in November.
Competing against the other teams at work in our region.... and boy do we get competitive. 2 of us went down to the gym at lunch time just so we could take turns on the rower and get some km on our tally. We WILL come out on top!
163km for Run for Dignity, running to my new fav song which I think is so inspiring right now #birdsoftokyounbreakable ‘no one can make you change who you are, no one can take one beat from your heart, when you’re standing tall, you’re unbreakable, no one can make you bend you won’t fold, no one can take your shine you’re all gold, when you’re standing tall, you’re unbreakable 🙌🏻 #run4dignity#beinspired

After volunteering for @parkrunau this morning and our RMA Birthday celebrations I took myself out for a #fastfive for #run4dignity which has taken my tally for this week to 28.3k and with 30k on the schedule tomorrow I feel AMAZING and getting fitter and more ready for @queenstownmarathon in November! I love that I will surpass my 100k+ commitment for run4dignity for the month of October as every step is for women who need us! My heart is full today. 💕@sharethedignityaustralia
