Longer post alert**** In 2017, I was on my way to my first sub 4 hour marathon at the Chicago Marathon when cramps at mile 23 derailed my effort, causing me to finish with a 4:01. I have literally been sick about that for a whole year. Being so close. Fast forward to 2018, I was determined to get that sub 4. Even when injuries plagued me the entire training session, I didn't give up hope. I still did the miles, no matter how slow I had to do them. My race was Richmond Marathon and I thought I was ready, but there are some things you can't prepare for.... Like food poisoning. I always try to eat at a local restaurant when I'm out of town for my carb loading. Place had 5 stars but it only takes one time. I woke up with GI issues, but I would regret it if I didn't still try. I got to mile 14 before I couldn't go any longer, the food poisoning had dehydrated me. Trip to ER have me my first ever DNF. I didn't want a whole year of training to be wasted so I looked for marathons within driving distance. I came upon Kiawah Island Marathon. I paid a bit more to register but I owed it to myself to give one more go before year end. This morning was the day. The morning didn't start of too good. Hotel didn't have any peanut butter so I couldn't have my bagel and I left my Gatorade in the room. Nevertheless, I stepped to the line. I decided I would just let my body do it's thing. I started out and felt strong. I kept waiting for something to happen but it didn't. My pace stayed steady and I started gaining on folks. I pushed through the wall at 15, stepped over the one at 17 and then mile 23 hit. Everything begin to hurt but I just couldn't get this close and not close the deal. I slowed but I hoped I had built a big enough cushion to close it out. I pushed across the finish line at 3:57. I got my sub 4 and a 4 minute PR. I wrote the same names on my arm from Richmond and you guys pushed me through. My redemption is complete. REMINDER AS WE APPROACH 2019:
As you look at the goals and resolutions you wrote down, it’s easy to feel like you failed, like you didn’t achieve what you thought you would or that you fell short.
Sometimes growth isn’t measured in numbers, figures, followers and metrics. Sometimes it can’t simply be quantified.
Sometimes it’s measured in things like: confidence, identity, service, relationships, purpose, quality time, passion, resiliency, not giving up.
When you look at where you've gone this year, don't just look at numbers, look at how you FEEL, how you LIVED, what you CELEBRATED, how you SURVIVED and OVERCAME things you didn’t even dream of in January.
You did an amazing job! You GREW. And something tells me that 2019 is going to be your year! Own it, claim it, manifest it right now!
Type below: “This is the year I will:” and fill in the blank to tell me what you’re going to accomplish this next year! Make it real.

Summary of the morning:
Inner voice:"You are sleepless, have a short nap after sending the kids to school, you do not have a class in the morning."
Me:"Yes that is a good idea, maybe I can have a one-hour sleep."
Then my phone rings, a call from my daughter's school informing me about her nausea, and terrible stomach ache😳😳😳
So, NO SLEEP➡️ rush to school ➡️pick her and go to the doctor➡️after all the tests done(blood-urine tests) ➡️take her home➡️make her soup➡️see that she is better➡️go for a run➡️take these wonderful shots while running➡️reason for happiness #manyblessings
Mother Nature heals everything and always makes me (feel) better😊
This morning is dedicated to the ones with "Monday Syndrome", wishing everybody extraordinary mornings with health and manyblessings🙏💜🙏 Pazartesi sabahı özeti:
