A few times a year I convince my kids to take a break from thier beloved 'pajama days' and adventure with me. Today was a pretty great day.
Forgot to post this yesterday after the crazy Chiefs game! 😅 We had the best weekend with family + ended it building Legos with J while cheering on our team! I love getting one-on-one with my kiddos. ❤️💛❤️💛 #jonahthomas

"Your child has no fear with animals" I hear that alot... is it a bad/good thing...I cant tell you. Should that be a compliment or an insult?
I love my boy has an adventurous side and wanting to discover new things but it gives me the fear still.
At the animal park, he wanted to feed every animal big or small and was not afraid. I was close by at every point and they were tame animals at a petting zoo. Should I pull him away and say no at the unknown or let him try and step in when I sense danger. I guess getting raised with 2 big dogs has created that in him. Not all dogs/animals are friendly and it will be another life lesson he will learn...but neither are humans.

Motherhood is one wild beautiful messy journey. The big girls are growing up and wanting to find their independence. Its stretching for all of us as we try and find our way through the new beautiful mess. .
But then there are moments like this when she asked me to scoop her up like a baby again. I didn’t hesitate a second because I know this too will pass much too quickly, and this very well could have been the last time she ever asks me.
It's a well known fact, that the best hiding place, no matter where you are, is under mom's skirt 😉⠀

Idun ❄️ The last couple of days have been cold with -10 degrees celsius. Idun could not stay outside many minutes since she refused warmer clothes but it was great to catch some sun.

BLOCK PLAY for all ages ⬜◻️◽▫️
👩🏻🏫Block play teaches children
▪️Cognitive (thinking) skills
Make sure your little one has a set of wooden, large lego size (make sure blocks are big and not a choking hazard) or find objects around the home like empty cereal boxes, tissue boxes find many different sizes and shapes and allow children to balance and build them. ▪️To find out how you can incorporate learning during block play follow our blog (link in bio) and look out for our posts.
This is me. It’s what I look like for 90% of my days, 5 days a week. I’m a true Mom living a real Mom Life. Hair up, work out clothes on (even when I’m not working out) - toddler on my hip, two other kids running around being wild & crazy, it’s rare that I’ll get make up on, my bed is usually unmade and I usually don’t actually relax until 9 o’clock at night. My days can be messy, they can be exhausting; sometimes chaotic. But everyday I’m thankful. I’m so grateful that I get to be home with my kids, I get to work from home ... something I never expected, yet I’m realizing it’s all I’ve ever wanted. 🙌🏻✨
Some of you might have already seen this one, using food colouring in water to change the colour of flowers.
It works best on single stems - they tend to start changing within a few hours - with the more colouring you use, the better the effect.
When you’ve finished you can encourage your little one to gift them or make a flower crown or dry the flowers and use the petals for confetti, a load in a toy train or truck and I’m sure you can think of plenty of other ideas!
Activities like this can help develop and build on lots of skills like fine motor with pouring water* (which you can also pair with maths if you have older kids), using scissors to cut the stems, adding food colouring etc. It’s great for building patience, caring for and checking on something else and can be used for helping to learn the time and build new habits.
I’ll add some examples to stories as soon as I get the chance, hope you guys are having a lovely day 🌼
*If your toddler or preschooler isn’t quite ready for pouring water that’s totally okay you could give them some dry ingredients like chickpeas or whatever you have in the pantry rice, beans etc for example and have them pour those alongside you gradually building up to water. Practicing pouring goes beyond motor skills helping with independence - they can pour themselves a drink when thirsty, spills help with learning about cleaning up and evaluating water levels is the mathematical link. I hope that makes sense - typing with a teething babe in my arms!
How was this six weeks ago?
The newborn phase really is so fleeting, and even faster this second time.
The newborn phase can be messy and frustrating.
It consumes you in one way, but with a second baby, life also just goes on like it did before.
It’s tiring, your entire body hurts from exhaustion like never before.
It’s new, this little person is new, but also kind of familiar in a way too.
They need you, all-the-time. 24/7.
But gosh it’s magic.
A love like never before.
Newborns are just pure magic.
If only we could pause time and they could stay this little forever ✨
