💥Low Back Pain Beliefs💥
📌 In 2014, a study by Darlow et al was published in BMJ Open. The study looked at beliefs of back pain in New-Zealand citizens above 18 years of age
📊 602 valid responses were received. Although not all of them had back pain at the moment (27%, which is still a substantial amount), 87% had experienced it at least once in their lives
⁉️ 34 questions were asked. A few of the most shocking results can be seen in the picture
📊 Negative views about the back and back pain were prevalent, in particular the need to protect the back to prevent injury
😩 People with current back pain had more negative overall scores, particularly related to back pain prognosis (outcome)
📈 Participants also showed uncertainty about links between pain and injury and appropriate physical activity levels during an episode of back pain
💯 Respondents had more POSITIVE views about activity if they had consulted a HEALTH PROFESSIONAL about back pain, which illustrates the power of EDUCATION in back pain recovery👍🏼
📣 TAKE HOME MESSAGE: Your BELIEFS can strongly influence your back PAIN and your RECOVERY, both positively and negatively
💯 That's why it's important to remember that MOST people experience back pain at least once in their lives, and MOST people recover just fine

This has to be one of my favorite snacks or side dishes to a meal!
✅ A great snack
✅ A great salad topper
✅ A great alternative to chips!
✅ Source of fibre
✅ Source of plant protein
1 can chickpeas, drained
1/2 tablespoon Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO)
1/2 tsp Salt (your choice)
Spices of your choice (I love paprika or sometimes just plain)

Preheat oven to 200 degrees C (400 degrees F)
1. Drain chickpeas and pat dry with a paper towel
2. Remove chickpea skins (you don’t have to do this but I personally believe this produces a better result)
3. Once the chickpeas are dry add to a bowl with 1/2 tablespoon EVOO and sprinkle with salt (don’t be stingy) mix together
4. Add chickpeas to a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake for 30-40 minutes (tossing the chickpeas every 10 minutes)
5. Once golden remove from the oven and THEN toss with your preferred spices. WHY? If you add the spices before they are likely to burn and taste bitter (IMO)

I've been saying I'd make some for the last few months and never had quite the right ingredients or timing, so tonight I carpé-ed the greens I had into the jar. With the airlock system we'll see of it turns out or goes bad.

SETTING AN INTEGRATIVE TONE TO A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE
The role of a good doctor is to support the patients’ health rather than just treat their illness. From a practical aspect, investigations can be done in order to establish nutritional deficiencies or hormonal abnormalities for example. Genetic profiling, within reason, can be undertaken to give us an idea of hereditary vulnerabilities and tendencies.
This information can be used in a positive manner to avoid or reduce one’s risk of developing hereditary chronic diseases by adjusting lifestyle, avoiding dietary triggers and supplementing correctly.

Are you a self-confessed meat-eater? Or do you enjoy nothing more than a piece of fish?
Maybe you’re doing Veganuary to dip a toe in the lifestyle before you fully commit?
Well, A 2018 study by comparethemarket.com found that approximately 7% of British people are vegan, while 14% are vegetarian. As well as this, 31% are eating less meat - either for health or ethical reasons, and 19% are eating fewer dairy products. (Comparethemarket, 2018)
But not all vegetarian diets are created the same! I have popped a wee dictionary below to help you decipher;
Lacto-Ovo-Vegetarian: A vegetarian who consumes eggs and dairy but not no consume the meat of animals or fish/seafood. This diet includes fruit, vegetables, yoghurt, eggs and milk.
Lacto-Vegetarian: A vegetarian who will not consume meat, fish, poultry or eggs.
Ovo-Vegetarian: A vegetarian who will consume eggs but not dairy products. The name derives from the Latin word 'Ovo' which means Egg.
Pollotarian: An individual who eats chicken, poultry or fowl but will abstain from red meat.
Pescatarian: An individual who eats fish and seafood but does not eat any meat.
Vegan: The Vegan diet contains only plants and foods made from plants. In this particular diet no animal products, dairy products and eggs are permitted. Vegans do not use animal lifestyle products such as leather.
What’s important to remember here is that one is not superior to the others. If you follow or curb your diet to fit one of the above definitions, pop in the comments your favourite dish! 🌱

Made this almond butter the other day and I was so pleased with how it turned out! Super thick and creamy and a perfect topping for toast and desserts and an extra protein hit for bliss balls too 🤩👊🏻 so inexpensive compared to what you buy, which was my favourite part !! Normally very pricey 🤑 - but will definitely be making my own from now on 👍🏼🎉
Listen. I have been asked several times how I've lost so much weight. Heres the thing, as long as you live a healthy conscious lifestyle you should not be concerned about weight loss or what you look like in your own skin. Period. Drink water everyday. Stretch. Everytime your body tells your your in pain, stretch it out. Eat a salad every day with a giant bottle of water. Go for walks. Be active with your children. All I can say is, if you ask me how I lost the weight. I joke and say, I stressed myself out. But the truth is I live a very healthy active lifestyle. I dont sit on my ass everyday and watch my kids run around. I run with them. Drink water when you feel hungry and then see if you're still hungry after drinking that water. No joke guys. I didn't go on a diet, or watch what I ate or counted calories. I listen to what my body tells me I need and go with it. You don't have to cut all the munchies out. You can still eat those oreos as long as you balance it out with a gallon of water and an hour stretch.
I am proud to say that I have lost all of both babies-weight.
Now that my secret is out. Don't ask me how I did it I'ma say dont eat and drink water. #supermom#healthyliving#drinkmorewater
Another day another easy vegan meal prep. There is no way at the moment I have the mental or physical capacity to make complex things. But fortunately I have a whole list in my head of quick, simple but still yummy and nutritious meals. As I know keeping myself fuelled is so important. Today I went with chilli: Kidney beans, tinned tomato, mushrooms, bell pepper, wild rice and a ton of spices. And now I went to the effort of cooking today the next three main meals are zero effort.
