December 10 // I HATE running... but
To grow in life, be willing to suffer.
We're human - we typically run away from pain and suffering. Or if you're like me, you hardly run at all.
Instead, try deliberately doing the things that you fear, or find uncomfortable. •
You can't find greatness from the sofa 🛋️
today’s long run was mentally tough. I fought a lot of negative thoughts that were constantly flowing. I even considering hopping on one of those city scooters and riding home. 🙄 I also forgot to take my inhaler which resulted in the last 5 miles of shallow breathing and fighting my anxiety from that. not my best day but I’m not here to show you only the good I’m here to show you the raw and real. next week will be better! ✨👌🏼
Let’s put target times aside for just one second. I know, I know, we all have them, but they HAVE to be a secondary goal. The primary goal surely has to be to be physically well enough to be standing on that standing on that starting line in one piece and ready to take part..? Only then can you attempt your target time.
I really believe that this is so often overlooked by so many runners. Until of course they suffer a major setback that stopped them from taking part in the dream race they were targeting. At that point they realise the importance of combining patience and logic to ensure that next time they make it to the actual starting line rather than sit at home tracking their friends online, with a teeny weeny bit of the green eyed monster going on.
At this late stage in the year most of us have shifted our attention to our 2019 race goals. Don’t hurry the process of increasing your fitness. The human body takes time to adapt. Apply too much gas and the chassis breaks. Let’s all stay in one piece and make next year the year that all our running goals come together.
Believe it or not this was an overwhelming thought I had when I just popped to the Co-op to buy some milk and I just had to share it with you!? Random but true. Happy weekend running beautiful people. Amen. 🙏🏽💙 #changethewayyourun#runwithscience#runninggoals#2019goals#injuryfreerunning#patience#basebuilding#runsmart#marathontraining#runtoinspire#runningcoach@on_running#goprorunning#goprorunning
a year ago I ran the race that I will never forget. something about this day changed me. maybe it was that for the first time I actually felt like I was good at this sport. or maybe it was because I shocked myself mile after mile at how strong I felt. or it could have been that I crossed that finish line with so much gratitude that it actually brought me to tears. whatever it was has never left me. I am so thankful for this experience. it was the one that I needed to continue to try harder. to motivate myself to be better. and to truly believe my goals, big and small are possible if I am willing to try. and I can’t wait to do it all again in 65 short days ♥️✨ #TBT#tucsonmarathon
