Up at 3am on Friday morning to participate in my running club’s 17th Johnson Arabia Dubai Creek Striders Half Marathon. Known as the “worlds most beautiful and scenic half marathon” and it most definitely was!
Whilst I have gotten used to running longer distances over the past year or so, I still get really nervous when it comes to an official timed run.
Today wasn’t a PB day (again😢) and I somehow managed to finish with the same time I achieved at my last timed HM of 2:23 a month ago! At least I’m consistent😂
Overall a good and steady run. Preparation the night before and sleep were sufficient. The weather was kind. KMs weren’t as painful as the last couple of long runs. Most importantly I was able to enjoy myself and finish injury free. 🤩
An exceptionally well organised event in every way possible. From getting the most generous goodie bag, to having supportive stewards along the accurately measured 21kms and of course being rewarded with a delightful medal and the most delicious English breakfast 🍳🥞🥐🍰🥤🍩🍉🍏🍌☕️I know my fellow runners were surprised with just how much I ate post run!
Thank you and bless the incredible and supportive Dubai Creek Striders committee! 💙💚💛🧡 Please give credit if you use my photos!
Great morning at the @dubaicreekstriders Half Marathon. 3 minutes slower than my PB, 16th in age group and 41st overall 🙌🏻
It was a very, very well organized race (as it usually us), with a stunning course which was well marshaled (even in the tricky alleys of Al Seef).
Thanks to the DCS committee, the volunteers, the sponsors and the organizations that make this race happen every year, and a massive well done to everyone who’s completed it today, including Debbie and Tom who won their age groups #GoAbras#DCSHalf#عمر_يركظ
Before i start another running training program, i would like to share my FIRST 21km marathon experience.
Well, i always wanted my “first” very memorable. I planned it in my home country #philippines.
I scheduled to surprise my mother on her birthday in 15 november, luckily there was a running event on 11 november... soooo yeah!! Right on schedule!! Right on time!! 👊🏾
After i booked my ticket and i registered online for the event, still got 6 weeks to prepare 🤦🏽♀️ a bit hesitant but i am confident 💪🏾 I combined easy run, with tempo run. I did a couple interval runs too. My fridays were long runs, from 14km then 16km for two fridays, then 18km and lastly 20km!!
Arrived in the philippines 2 days before the event.. pushed myself to adjust immediately as philippines is ahead of 4 hours here in #dubai.
The night before the event, i learned that my brother had signed up in the event too!! It leaped my spirit, my momentum, my everything!! Wow!! Not only i am running my first 21k in my home country, i get to run with my brother too!! 🤩
3am was the assembly time, and 4am was the gun start for 21km. There you go, me and my brother started running side by side. It was soooo fun!! We chat and chat and chat the whole time!!! we were just in a conversational pace.. you know what we talked about....RUNNING!! 😂
I also enjoyed the scenery, the nature. #morefuninthephilippines we ran in the vicinity of clark, angeles city philippines.
Another best part of our ran was when we saw our dad at the finish line. I knew he was proud, coz when we were young he always pushed us to be active, to play sports!! There you go dad!! 💪🏾
It was really a very memorable run. 🏃🏾♀️ Great and happy first 21km run 😍
Grateful for the organizers of the event. Grateful for my family. Most of all grateful for my source of good health.. GOD ❤️
Thank you Lord for the gift of health.
47k to mark the UAE’s 47th National Day 🇦🇪🇦🇪🇦🇪. Thanks @bamedhaf for organizing this, and well done to everyone who ran today, it was a fun run (despite my questionable taste in music 😂). You’re all legends! #UAENationalDay47#عمر_يركظ
My mind was strong..but my hips definitely reminded me of my age.. Dubai half marathon✔️
