Phew!! No drama with calf today, though had a bit of a tiff with the coffee machine ending in double coffee - kept me wired up for a while 😂😂. No running for next few days, let's get back to the boring body shop, have been ignoring #imtridubai#cuckoopride#dubaicreekstriders
Up at 3am on Friday morning to participate in my running club’s 17th Johnson Arabia Dubai Creek Striders Half Marathon. Known as the “worlds most beautiful and scenic half marathon” and it most definitely was!
Whilst I have gotten used to running longer distances over the past year or so, I still get really nervous when it comes to an official timed run.
Today wasn’t a PB day (again😢) and I somehow managed to finish with the same time I achieved at my last timed HM of 2:23 a month ago! At least I’m consistent😂
Overall a good and steady run. Preparation the night before and sleep were sufficient. The weather was kind. KMs weren’t as painful as the last couple of long runs. Most importantly I was able to enjoy myself and finish injury free. 🤩
An exceptionally well organised event in every way possible. From getting the most generous goodie bag, to having supportive stewards along the accurately measured 21kms and of course being rewarded with a delightful medal and the most delicious English breakfast 🍳🥞🥐🍰🥤🍩🍉🍏🍌☕️I know my fellow runners were surprised with just how much I ate post run!
Thank you and bless the incredible and supportive Dubai Creek Striders committee! 💙💚💛🧡 Please give credit if you use my photos!
When I signed up for the half and full marathon few months ago, I didn’t know I would enjoy the journey so much. Yesterday’s race was not exactly pleasant but it brought in a personal best - 21.1km in 1:53:21.
Thanks for everyone to the encouraging words!
Like in any race, my first objective is to do my best. Today wasn't my day to break my personal best.
But finished 15th out of 662 female participants.
There are other races to come. Meanwhile, it's time to rest, reflect and choose next half marathon.
Today was the day I completed my first ever half marathon, a goal I had set myself for 2018!
Those who know me know who much I’ve disliked running or cardio of any sort that didn’t involve dance!
It may not be a achievement for many people as thousands achieve so much more, but today, I’m happy and proud🌟
My first half marathon, quite a challenging course in 2:04:25
Couldn’t have done it without the enthusiasm and encouragement from @nicola_sara ...on my own certainly wouldn’t have been as fun.
Now for a few cocktails to celebrate and a absolute goal for a Sub 2. Bring on RAK 2019 🏃🏽♀️ #halfmarathon#dubaicreekstriders
