Bhapa Doi - A traditional Bengali sweet for festivities
Bengali’s are known as food lovers especially when it comes to their variety of dessert spreads. One of my Bengali friend always used to tell me that either her mother or father would go daily to get fresh produce from the local markets.
I would always look forward going to her apartment as she would cook the most yummiest food with an array of pungent flavours. Back home I never had a habit of having desserts after my main course , but in the Bengali’s they always end their meal with sweets (Mishti), the way their meals are served resemble to that of french cuisine, which is course wise. Most of their desserts are made from milk but as i never preferred very sweet desserts so she would always make bhapa doi for me as i loved the texture (cheesecake like) and subtle flavours of cardamon, originally it’s steamed but due to the modern era a lot of people including myself prefer baking.
