Meet Neil our 1:30 pacer .
I have been a DCS member for 4 years and help to coach the weekly speed and tempo sessions .
Achieving PB’s is a special feeling for any athlete, therefore if I can help a group of people go under 1:30 and achieve their goals, I will be smiling just as much as them at the finish line.

Meet Maekele our 1:35 pacer .
Joining DCS in 2016, a couple of weeks after I arrived in Dubai, is one of the best decisions I made in my life. After running 100s of miles with the club, two marathons, and three half marathons, I feel much healthier and stronger than ever. I have met several inspiring people who continue to help me improve my running and avoid injures. .
As I rely on the support of many runners to break my own boundaries, I am extremely happy to help you achieve your sub 1:35 running goals.

Meet Karen (Kaz) our 1:45 pacer .
I took up running 7 years ago to complete my first half marathon with a group of friends (none of which showed up on start line). Upon moving to Dubai did a couple of 10km races with my husband and decided to do some sneaky training in order to beat him…………joined my first Friday run with the Striders thinking I would run 12 or so kms and then head home, 2 and a half hours and 22 kms later I made it home (I didn’t know how to get home and didn’t want look weak getting in a taxi). Four years later and my running and Dubai Creek Striders are a huge part of my life here in Dubai. .
I have completed 6 Half Marathons, my PB is 1.37 (last year in AD) Age group champion 2016 and 2017, I have won my age group in 10k, 16k, track and the desert warrior qualifying for the world champs and this year I completed my first ultra marathon the Wild Coast Wild Run 112KM trail race. .
For the past 18 months I have facilitated speed and interval sessions at Zabeel in order to help make more sessions available to more people. These sessions are hugely motivating for me, I get to run with some amazing people and help new runners discover the joy that this sport gives me. Pacing the half is another way I can give back to a club that has given me so much.

Meet Ram our 1:45 pacer .
I Have run a few halves and fulls and a couple of ultras. .
I have paced DCS half every year since 2012 as my way of giving back to the club which has transformed me. .
To prepare for races I just keep up with regular and varied running sessions (3-4 times a week) as well as cross training. A disciplined routine and diet is also important. Don’t lose focus and recovery with responsibly. .
Breakfast of the champions:
Water, Nuts, dates or peanut butter, black coffee, a bit of chocolate for the ‘feel good’ vibes. Fuelling and hydration through and after the race/training session is equally important. .
I’ll be pacing the 1:45 group along with Karen this year. We will keep it consistent pace and smooth (no funny moves) throughout the course. Will love to take many across the finish line beating this psychological barrier timing.

Meet Nic our 1:50 pacer •
I was introduced to long distance running rather late in life, but soon discovered my passion for the sport. I truly believe everyone has the ability to run, some need a little more help than others. I got hooked on running after training for an ultra marathon and experiencing what camaraderie is all about. Helping each other to achieve something extra ordinary is really the name of the game. I live by this quote from the iconic Nelson Mandela “It always seems impossible until it is done'' •
I have ran many half marathons, 7 Comrades Ultra Marathons, 7 Two Oceans, 2 Major Marathons •
Its a great privilege to be able to lead a group of people, sharing the same vision, working through the course to be able to achieve a time that is a personal goal- to yet again show what IS POSSIBLE. Its also for me about people being able to trust your pace, to get them on target to the finish line - that makes being a pace special. •
To train i join group session regularly and gradually build up distance. Its about building on an exciting foundation and seeking to improve.

Meet Rob our 1:50 pacer •
I joined the Dubai Creek Striders in July 2015 and was immediately inspired by all the people I met and the running stories exchanged during our Friday morning runs. Running weekly with such an open and friendly group of people I found my confidence to take on greater running challenges grew quickly. Within 6 months of joining the Striders I went on to complete my first marathon and to date have completed 3 marathons and 9 half marathons. •
I want to give back to a club I feel has given me so much over the years. Also I want to try and get others a new PB on the day! •
Train regularly in the weeks before a big race, and the week of I eat, hydrate and sleep as much as possible. •
When running races it's all about staying positive and not letting any negative thoughts creep in. Your body can be pushed harder than you think and on the day with adrenaline and excitement I am hoping anyone running with me to achieve a PB will be pleasantlysurprised when they do!
See you at the start line.......
